Thursday night the 18th of April will be remembered as the night that G-Shock rocked Melbourne. With a little help from Bliss n Eso, DJ Krush, N’fa Jones and DJ Mafia – G-Shock’s 30th anniversary party was an absolute success.
The venue: Prince Bandroom – had a tonne of old-school G-Shocks including super rare collaboration models. To demonstrate the toughness of the G-Shock, watches were frozen in big blocks of ice and displayed at the bar for all to see. The amazing thing was – those watches may have been frozen – but they were still working perfectly!
The 350+ guests for the evening included G-Shock collectors, our friends in retail, media, athletes, TV types, a who’s who of the hip hop world, comedians and artists!
The big news of the night was that multi-award winning hip hop band Bliss n Eso will be the very first people in Australia to create their own G-Shock collaboration model. From G-Shock Australia’s perspective – these boys were the perfect guys to hook-up with: they make amazing music, they know how to party, their innovators and they’re also bloody good guys.
The boys will be flying over to Japan soon to meet with G-Shock’s designers and engineers. Only 1,000 watches will be produced and they’ll be hitting stores in 2014.
Much love goes to DJ Krush who came out from Japan to perform on the night. N’fa Jones absolutely killed it up on stage as the official MC for the evening – his freestyles were incredible. It goes without saying that a party isn’t a party without Melbourne’s own DJ Mafia on the decks … she absolutely killed it up there.
Also – thanks to our friends from the media who turned up on the night. G-Shock is blessed to enjoy a close relationship with many journalists, writers and bloggers.
So will we be throwing together another party sometime soon? Of course! Sydney … strap yourselves in – you’re next!
