TA-KU is expanding his creative horizons further than ever, revealing a limited edition collaboration with G-SHOCK.

Perth based photographer also known as Regan Matthews is a modern day entrepreneur, producer, musician and all round creative. TA-KU made waves in 2013 with ‘Songs to Break Up To’ and since then he has directed, designed and developed a multitude of projects across a variety of different disciplines.

Throughout his work, TA-KU invests a great deal of thought, restraint and care in the process of collaboration, every detail meticulously placed with specific purpose. Collaborating with Mercedes Benz, Google, Wafia, Sony, I Love Ugly and Dropbox, TA-KU has become a global phenomenon, influencing many through his work, travel and passion projects. TA-KU values organic collaboration and its process, identifying himself with brands that share the same values. “G-Shock has always been a cultural and influential staple to me growing up. I hold the brand and overall ethos in high regard to this day. G-shock has pioneered itself through true craftsmanship and attention to detail. I’m truly honoured and humbled to have worked with G-SHOCK on this watch and share my vision through our collaboration.” As G-SHOCK falls into its 35th year, the focus is on its the beginnings and the original watch DW5000. TA-KU’s control, consideration and respect for design, is why this collaboration was irrefutable.

The new TA-KU x G-SHOCK digital DW5600 collaboration model is a digital interpretation of his latest solo album ‘Songs to Make Up To’. The varying floral hues are a subtle addition to a monotone negative screen display. Featuring a black woven Condura band and case back engravings, the TA-KU x G-SHOCK model, in true TA-KU form, is subdued and refined.

Each watch comes in a special all black casing with a fan zine that has been photographed and arranged by TA-KU himself. A deluxe edition box set versions are also available which holds the watch and fan zine in a travel inspired case that is customisable with TA-KU x G-SHOCK stickers.

An invite-only launch curated by TA-KU will be held on November 30th in Sydney, featuring DJ’s KC, Katana, Montell, Submerse and YO! Mafia. This launch coincides with the announcement of G-SHOCK’s 35th Anniversary and will be the second international celebration in a series of SHOCK THE WORLD festivities.

The TA-KU x G-SHOCK DW5600 will be released in limited numbers on December 1st in select Australian stores and online. A limited presale is available from Wednesday the 23rd 2017, in store at Myer Melbourne G-Factory and Myer Sydney G-Factory.
